To get a sense of what the metaverse will look like in the digital revolution, we took a look at an August 2021 announcement in which the UN selected the NFT marketplace to inspire others on how to take action against climate change by partnering with Unique Network, the blockchain platform that will host the initiative.

According to reports, the United Nations seems to have found the blockchain solution in Non-Fungible Tokens for the program dedicated to fighting climate change.

And indeed, Digital Art for Climate Action Empowerment, or DigitalArt4Climate, is the name of the plan that involves the work of young artists in creating new NFT ART to inspire people to find better solutions for the environment.

With that in mind, here's how the announcement quotes:

"The United Nations has recognized NFT technology as a unique new medium for creative expression that can help amplify messages about climate action. The UN wants to bring this innovative art form to the next generation of creators who can benefit from a technology that can help them amplify and monetize their work."

The NFT marketplace chosen for UN's plan is Unique Network, a project based on Polkadot and Kusama. The opening date for contributions was August 12, 2021.

NFT against climate change: the blockchain solution is Unique Network The DigitalArt4Climate program involves Unique Network, which will host the digital art gallery and marketplace to showcase NFT works.

"We are so proud to have been selected as the exclusive blockchain partner for UN Habitat's NFT Climate Initiative to empower young artists, designers and activists to take climate action in line with the UN SDGs."

The recent Polkadot and Kusama-based project had raised $4.3 million in pre-sale last May 2021 to launch an NFT infrastructure on these two blockchains.

By exploring other blockchains compared to Ethereum and Binance Chain, Unique Network aims to solve some existing problems in the NFT market, such as high fee costs and speed. Here then, new NFTs against climate change could be issued already in the Polkadot and Kusama standard.

Let's build something great together!
